1967年発売されたLP『マジカル・ミステリー・ツアー』と、同年12月にパーロフォンから発売された同名の2枚組EPに収録されました。ポール・マッカートニーによって書かれた楽曲。

歌詞は、周囲から馬鹿にされている偏屈な賢者のことを歌う、童話のような内容となっています。

この男のモデルになったのは、地動説のガリレオ・ガリレイだという説が流れていますが、実際にはマハリシ・マヘーシュ・ヨーギーという「超越瞑想」なる瞑想法の伝道師との出会いがインスピレーションになっているのだそうです。

原曲では間奏のリコーダーが良い味を出していて、口笛でやってみましたが上手く出せませんでした＾＾💦

This song was included on the LP Magical Mystery Tour released in 1967, and on the 2-disc EP of the same name released by Parlophone in December of the same year. It was written by Paul McCartney.

The lyrics are like a fairy tale, singing about an eccentric wise man who is ridiculed by those around him.

There is a theory that the model for this man is Galileo Galilei, who believed in the heliocentric theory, but in reality, the inspiration was his encounter with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a preacher of a meditation method called "transcendental meditation."

In the original song, the recorder in the interlude adds a nice touch, and I tried to whistle it, but it didn't come out very well ^^💦
