American Flyer 10 Wheeler project 06-07-2024

This video features a project I am working on. It is a Southern Pacific 10 wheeler locomotive with a Vanderbilt tender. This was my first test run on the layout.

The locomotive is a cut down 282 boiler shell on a pacific chassis. I removed a little over 3/4" from the shell between the cab and the mounting plates for the chassis.

The tender is on a 3D printed chassis made for use with American Flyer Northern tender shells. I found this on eBay. I had always wanted to use a Northern tender chassis for one of these projects. However, an original chassis is just too valuable to sacrifice for this purpose.

I'll do an update video once I have the lettering, hand rails, and ladders on the tender.
