Waldfried - Der alte Försterfriedhof

Durchstreift man die Landschaft östlich der Oder um den Ort Krzywinek (dt. Neuhof), findet man tief im Wald einige große, gemeißelte Granitblöcke. Es sind die Grabsteine der Förster dieses Reviers. Einer gehört Albert Kunow, Preußischer Revierförster, 3.11.1876 – 2.6.1938. Ein anderer ist dem im Ersten Weltkrieg gefallenen Sohn des Königlichen Forstmeisters Paul Krüger gewidmet.

Vaterland sei der Gefallenen wert.

Schwer lässt sich die Inschrift entziffern, bald wird sie ganz verwittert sein. Nachdenklich lässt sie uns zurück – der tiefe Schmerz eines Vaters um seinen Sohn, Stolz, Vaterland... Ein Schicksal von so vielen in Kriegen, die für „das Vaterland“ gefochten werden, für den Einzelnen jedoch nur Leid, Trauer, Verwüstung und Tod bedeuten.




If you roam the countryside east of the Oder around the town of Krzywinek (German: Neuhof), you will find some large, chiseled blocks of granite deep in the forest. They are the tombstones of the foresters of this district. One belongs to Albert Kunow, Prussian district forester, November 3, 1876 – June 2, 1938. Another is dedicated to the son of the Royal Forester, Paul Krüger, who died in World War I.

The inscription is difficult to decipher, it will soon be completely weathered. She leaves us thoughtfully - the deep pain of a father for his son, pride, fatherland... A fate of so many in wars that are fought for "the fatherland", but for the individual only suffering, grief, devastation and death mean.
