Swim Analysis - Kelly

Описание к видео Swim Analysis - Kelly

Thank you so much, Kelly, for joining our swim analysis session! In this video, we dive into some fantastic takeaways and focus points to help enhance your swimming technique.

Highlights:
- Kelly's stroke cadence sits between 70 to 80 strokes per minute, an ideal range for open water swimming that generates impressive speed.
- Her kicking is extremely propulsive, setting up a solid foundation for her stroke.

Focus Points:
- The primary issue identified in this session is the lateral shift. When using a pull buoy, the drift of Kelly's legs is exaggerated. One of the tell-tale signs is her right hip popping up out of the water as her left hand transitions from the catch phase into the pull.
- We observed that post-catch, Kelly's arm continues very deep with a straight motion, causing her shoulder to drop significantly and creating a large horizontal shift in her body.
- This deep shoulder position leads to the hip lift, increased frontal resistance, a slipping hold of water, a low elbow, a wide scissor kick for counterbalance, and a noticeable head bob.

Solutions and Recommendations:
- To address these issues, we need to focus on improving Kelly's hand entry and catch phase to lift her elbow and reduce the depth problem.
- A key cue is to close the gap between the side of her head and her arm, which will help correct the width of her entry.
- As discussed on the pool deck, reducing time with the finis paddle and spending more time with a flatter power paddle with straps will help get her hand and forearm into a more natural position.

Excellent work in this session, Kelly! We're excited to see your progress as you work on controlling your body position and refining your stroke technique.
