Deep Back Muscles – Multifidus:
Research has shown there is an inhibition of transverse abdominus, pelvic floor muscles and atrophy of lumbar multifidus associated with low back pain. How to recruit multifidus in a prone position is taught. It is suggested to do the supine pelvic floor and abdominal exercises prior to completing the multifidus exercises.
