Cushion Brilliant Diamond Tutorial: Lauren B Diamond Education

Описание к видео Cushion Brilliant Diamond Tutorial: Lauren B Diamond Education

Time for our weekly Diamond 101 Tutorial and today it's all about the most popular fancy shape: Cushion Cut. Follow along with this video and read carefully as this is the most perplexing diamond cut.
Cushions come in a variety of cutting styles and at Lauren B we focus on what we like to call the "cushion brilliant style" which is a hybrid between a cushion modified brilliant and a true cushion brilliant. Shown on the right here (1.51 carat E color/VS2 clarity), this type of diamond will always outshine and out-size a standard cushion modified (shown on left). A "cushion brilliant style" diamond has larger, crisper facets to give off a more defined sparkle and will also look noticeably larger than its inferior counterpart. We ONLY sell the variety shown on the right; while it may command a premium in price, it is well worth it! The stone on the left is a "crushed ice" cushion and what you commonly find in mass retailers and online websites. These two diamonds are the same price, and an unsuspecting consumers might actually opt for the "crushed ice" one because of the higher clarity grade; a huge mistake.
To understand how two stones of equal carat weight, quality and shape can look so different SWIPE LEFT to the second video. You will see a comparison of these two diamonds from the profile; the "crushed ice" cushion (left) has a lumpy appearance and contains additional facets in order is a way to save weight, and also gives it a watery/duller sparkle up top. Conversely, our "cushion brilliant style" diamond has a very sharp look with facets extending directly from the bottom tip to the top of the stone (the girdle). This faceting style underneath gives it a crisp sparkle on top and allows for the weight of the diamond to be distributed on the surface, as opposed to the bottom, giving it a larger face-up appearance
BUYER BEWARE there would be no distinction between these two on the GIA report; both would be called "cushion modified brilliants" which makes it confusing for a novice shopper. Not to worry, at Lauren B we offer the superior version of the cushion cut so inquire to find your stone.
