Bach famous little C minor Prelude in C Minor for lute BWV 999 on Roland C-30 digital harpsichord

Описание к видео Bach famous little C minor Prelude in C Minor for lute BWV 999 on Roland C-30 digital harpsichord

The date of this little prelude by JS Bach in C minor (BWV 999) is not known but the form belongs to the figurative type (changing harmonies over a repeated broken chord pattern) found in the Well Tempered Clavier book 1 so early 1720s would be logical. It was originally for lute but sounds equally good on the harpsichord and is also often heard on guitar or piano. Here it is played on the buff/lute stop of the Roland C-30 digital French harpsichord. The Prelude was later collected into a set of miscellaneous little preludes some of which like this one are popular with beginners. One feature that needs to be said, the piece does end with a final cadence in the home key (tonic) of C minor, suggesting that another section or a fugue is supposed to follow. A little fugue in C minor that could be a companion piece to this will follow in my next upload.
