Green & Gold: The Southern FP7 (1988)

Описание к видео Green & Gold: The Southern FP7 (1988)

In 1988, Lasting Impressions Productions released this VHS program about Norfolk Southern's Southern FP7A locomotives in excursion service. The four FP7As featured in this video were built in 1950 by EMD and were used in passenger service until being retired in 1988 by Norfolk Southern.

The first portion of the video depicts a pair of the F units on an excursion between Birmingham, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee in the Spring of 1983. Some scenes show excellent high speed action, and the videographer gets plenty of pacing video along the way as well. Also, Amtrak's Crescent is shown near Birmingham, and a Southern high-hood can be seen in the siding at Springville.

Later on, we see another pair of FP7As on an excursion between Louisville, Kentucky and Huntingburg, Indiana in the Fall of 1984. This line contains plenty of great locations, including sweeping curves, bridges, and even a tunnel! Another train meet occurs during this segment as well, this time featuring SOU 3305, an EMD SD40-2.

I've decided to post this VHS tape to my channel in an effort to preserve its historical contents. To my knowledge, Lasting Impressions is no longer around.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy some F unit action on the Southern mainline!
