Stella was just 14 when she started factory work in London to aid Britain’s war effort. She began making pens but Stella was quickly singled out for classified work producing secret machine parts. Many years later she would discover the important role these parts had played in securing Allied victory. Stella’s factory work came to an abrupt halt when she was caught up in a bombing raid on London, during the Blitz. An evening out at the cinema would leave her with life changing injuries.
