Hiking Galpin Hut Via Fernkloof Hermanus - Easy Scenic Day Hike 4K

In this cinematic video we are hiking to Galpin Hut from Fernkloof Nature Reserve in Hermanus. It is a relatively easy and very enjoyable 10 kilometer out and back trail with stunning views and a total elevation of 550m.

We have hiked this trail twice now and we thoroughly enjoyed both. We really recommend hiking this when the weather has been dry, there are a few spots on the trail where water can sit and make for some slippery and squishy hiking.

There's nothing technical of note about the trail, we consider it very safe and if you are a trail runner then this might be your idea of heaven.

The weather in this region is not stable, so make sure to prepare for wind and rain.

The section between White Rock and Galpin Hut can be done as a loop, and you can link more trails on the eastern side of the loop, the jeep track, or the lemoenkop split.

Galpin Hut can also be used for overnight camping (at a fee) and there is an outdoor loo/toilet/longdrop.

We shot and edited this video to show the best of the ocean, hills, mountains, and general nature. In this video the music is soft to not interfere with the sounds of birds, leaves, wind, and the sounds of nature around. The hiking video was shot with the Sony zv-e10 / zve10 in 4K on a Zhiyuntech Crane M2S gimbal to stabilize the video and to make it cinematic. We started the hike with few clouds and reached the summit in rain.

The Hermanus Fernakloof Nature reserve has many more trails such as Lemoenkop and Three Dams, Fishermanskloof, Boekenhoutbos, and Kanonkop. So it can be used for trail running, hiking, camping, backpacking, thruhiking and more.

Hermanus is close Cape Town South Africa and is situated in the Western Cape.
