047 - Masters Worlds 2024 - Masters 2/Gi/Blue Belt/195/Match 02

My next opponent was down by 12 points and threw up a nasty triangle on his previous opponent. I knew I needed to stay out of his guard. I started with the best double leg takedown I’ve ever done but of course the IBJJF camera cut out and the Ref was in the way. I started working the pass but he muscled me over due to my sloppy knee on belly. I recovered fast into another takedown but gave him a prime opportunity to slap in his triangle. Luckily I was quick enough to realize and got my second hand in to defend. There was no way I was losing and not making the podium to something I knew he wanted. I managed to break free and secured the mount and eventually his back where I basically finished the match. No matter what happens, I’m on the podium, but I came for gold. Onto match 4!
