When doing the haunches out you are looking for a bend to the outside and you accomplish that by drawing down on the hand on the shoulder, drawing down on the rein and asking for a bend to the outside. It doesn’t have to be much, particularly on the circle. Make sure to keep a nice long neck when you are asking for the bend.
