How I COLOR GRADE Sunrise Photos with Adobe Lightroom (RAW included)

In this Adobe #Lightroom tutorial I‘m showing you how I Color Grade warm, dreamy sunrise images. Besides Lightroom I will use a bit of Photoshop to clean up the image and make use of the Nik Collection plug in as well.

0:00 Intro
The goal here was to make the whole scene a lot warmer while still having some of those blue-ish purple tones in the picture. On this photo I did apply some heavier post processing, but I just prefer the more vibrant images.

0:33 1. Basic Adjustments
First off, I changed the profile to Adobe Landscape for more base saturation, then I adjusted the white balance to get warmer colors. Before continuing changing the colors, I adjusted the exposure. The base image is rather dark, so first I increased the exposure, the whites and the blacks. To not overexpose anything, I dropped the highlights. Also, I added texture, clarity and some vibrance.

3:21 2. Local Adjustments
I still didn’t like how bright the sky was. So with a linear gradient I made it slightly darker by bringing down the exposure. Also, I added some glow using a radial gradient and increased blacks, decreased dehaze on the left part in the sky.

4:50 3. Adjusting Colors
First, I reduced the hue of the blue tones, as the blues did have a lot of purple in it still. Then, I added yellow hue. Also, I boosted the yellow saturation, as well as the orange saturation. To make the sky darker, I dropped the blue luminance.

For the split toning I added a warm tone to the highlights and the mid-tones with a lot of saturation. For the shadows I used a subtle blue tone.

9:10 4. Photoshop
Using the spot healing brush I cleaned up the image. Then, with the warp transformation, I made the horizon straight. Finally, I used the Nik Collection plug in to add some more warmth and colors.
