Can a building be built without any foundation, and that too such a building which neither a storm nor an earthquake can shake? No no! But 1000 years ago, a temple was built on the banks of river Kaveri in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, whose foundation was not laid, which is 216 feet high and made of 1,20,000 tons of stone, and this temple is without any foundation. And was made of cement! The name of this temple is Brihadeshwar Temple. There is a 12 feet high idol of Lord Shiva in this temple, and the surprising thing is that a stone weighing 80 tons has been placed on the dome of this temple. Many scientists are still amazed by the art of construction of this temple! The thing to think about is how such a strong temple was built without any foundation? And how was such a heavy stone placed on the dome of this temple, when there was no technology at that time!
