Perfect with roti, paratha, puri, or steamed rice, it’s a simple homestyle recipe that’s bursting with freshness and color. 💚
🌿 Chutney Wale Aloo Matar Recipe
Ingredients
For Green Chutney:
1 cup fresh coriander leaves (washed & chopped)
½ cup fresh mint leaves
3–4 green chillies (adjust to taste)
1 inch ginger
4–5 garlic cloves
2 tbsp grated dry coconut (or desiccated coconut)
2 tbsp roasted peanuts
Salt to taste
A little water for grinding
For the Gravy:
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
1 green chilli (chopped, optional if you want extra heat)
Prepared green chutney (from above)
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
1 cup boiled green peas (fresh or frozen)
10–12 baby potatoes, boiled & peeled (or 2 large potatoes, boiled & cubed)
1½ cups hot water (adjust as needed)
½ tsp garam masala
1 tsp lemon juice (or more, to taste)
Fresh coriander for garnish
Method
Step 1 – Make the Green Chutney
In a blender, add coriander, mint, green chillies, ginger, garlic, dry coconut, peanuts, and salt.
Grind into a smooth paste using little water. Keep aside.
Step 2 – Prepare the Gravy
Heat oil in a heavy-bottom pan or kadhai.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté till golden brown.
Add chopped green chilli (if using) and sauté for a minute.
Stir in the prepared chutney and sauté for 3–4 minutes on medium flame until the raw aroma goes away.
Step 3 – Add Spices & Veggies
Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add boiled peas and potatoes. Stir to coat them with chutney masala.
Pour in hot water, mix, and let it simmer on low flame for 7–8 minutes.
Step 4 – Finish the Dish
Sprinkle garam masala and mix gently.
Turn off the flame, squeeze in lemon juice, and garnish with fresh coriander.
🍽️ Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with roti, paratha, puri, or steamed rice.
It also tastes amazing with jeera rice or plain pulao.
