Direct Probe Ionization Mass Spectrometer DPiMS and Applications

DPiMS is a MS system incorporating with the Direct Probe Ionization technique. This new ionization technique was developed by Professor Kenzo Hiraoka at the University of Yamanashi in Japan. It was also called probe elctrosprary ionization or PESI. A very small amount of liquid sample (10 uL) is needed and ionization of analytes can be performed in positive mode and negative mode. The analysis mode of DPiMS can be scan mode, product ion scan mode, SIM and MRM mode depending on the analysis purpose. Application of DPiMS is driven by its key features: fast, simple or no sample pre-treatment, no heating in ionization and enabling direct analysis of solid samples etc. This video introduces the principles and applications of this novel MS technology.
