Getting more experience with SafeSky

The ugly: I selected the wrong aircraft in SafeSky. This caused our own aircraft to produce tons of traffic alerts. Bitchin' Betty was at her best. Both in SafeSky and SkyDemon. Two Betties competing for our attention. I couldn't even switch to the correct aircraft, because the alert view didn't go away and so there was no "Stop" button in the radar view. To silence the Betties, we restarted SafeSky and SkyDemon, disabled voice alerts in SkyDemon, and selected the correct aircraft. Then all was good.

The bad: Just as we approached conflicting traffic all traffic suddenly disappeared. Maybe we got a handoff from one cell phone tower to another. Don't know. It wasn't too bad, because, at this time, our eyes were already outside to scan for the traffic. But anyway: Notice, that due to the reliance on cell phone coverage, traffic info can disappear at any time. Just keep that in mind. There is no guarantee, that any relevant traffic will be displayed.

The good: Due to the info in SafeSky, we knew about any traffic that was relevant to us long before it became a factor. A glimpse now and then on the radar view of SafeSky really can make a difference. We think, that SafeSky is a cool tool that increases traffic awareness. A lot! The more pilots that will use it, the better it will become.
