Hey everybody, my name's Ryan and here eTrailer, we install, test, fit, and review a lot of different parts. That way we could try to answer any questions those of you might have. And that's exactly what we're doing here today on our 2021 Ram 2500. We're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Pollak in-bed Gooseneck and fifth wheel trailer wiring.Whenever you're pulling a fifth wheel or Gooseneck trailer, it's going to be really convenient to have a plug back here, right inside of the bed. That way, you can just take your wiring, plug it right in. Everything's nice and clean and easy to get to.

Without this, you're going to have to drape that wiring over your tailgate, plug it in down there by the bumper. And it's just a hassle, honestly. When I've pulled trailers like that, you're worried about that wiring coming unplugged or getting hung up on something, and at the end of the day, that just don't give you that peace of mind that you're looking for.I will say, this is a pretty nice kit here. That's a nice handle down here. He can easily get to it and lift it up. The cap's spring loaded and it's actually pretty good amount of tension.

You have to put a little effort into opening it, so that's good for a couple things. One being whenever you're not using it, it's going to seal up nice and tight, keep all them terminals inside protected. And when you are using it so your plugs in there, there's going to be this little catch here. And from the tension of a lid, that's going to spring down onto your plug and it's going to help prevent it from getting accidentally pulled out. I benefit both ways there. What's nice about this setup is the fact that it's a T-connector. What that means is more or less a T is right into the back of your factory harness.

And that's going to allow you to still be able to use your factory bumper plug here. Whenever you're not telling your Gooseneck or your 5th wheel you have regular bumper pull trailer, you're still able to plug it in back here nice and convenient just like you used to.At the end of the day, one of them simple things that often get overlooked but pretty important, it actually makes your life just a little bit easier whenever you're doing some towing. Now as far as the installation goes, it's pretty straightforward. You don't have to do anything crazy. It shouldn't take you a whole lot of time.

However, I will say, we'll need to pick up some self tapping screws that we can actually attach a plug to your bed.But other than that, you really don't need to do anything special. It shouldn't really fight you too much, whether you're doing it at home, in your garage, or maybe even in the driveway. Speaking of which let's go ahead and hook it up together now.To begin our installation, we're going to be up in the bed of our truck and we're first going to find a spot to Mount up our connector plug here. The spot that I chose is right here on the driver's side, just in front of our cargo hook here. And that's really our best option. There's a big brace that runs through here a little bit further. We prefer not to have to drill through there. And behind here is relatively open. Regardless of where you choose to mount, one thing you definitely want to do is look up behind there, make sure you're not going to hit anything of importance or anything like that. With that being said, I'm going to use a whole saw to create my opening. And this is two and one eighth of an inch in diameter. I put a mark there, I get it lined up and make a hole.It looks like we actually came into that brace a little bit, no big deal. We'll just continue to run our whole saw through there and get that little portion cut out as well. I got that hole cutout and it looks like a little piece of that brace will actually be in the way. Not a big deal at all. What we'll do is just continue to run our whole saw through and get that little section cut out as well. They cut out. I'm going to do is grab a vacuum and just clean up all of these metal sheets. What I do suggest doing, since we do have some bare exposed metal here, just to help keep it protected a little bit, I'm going to take a paint stick and apply a little coating over there where it says a little bit of protection. If you don't have one of these paint sticks, you can always just grab a can of clear spray paint and do this that way as well. Grab our harness and the end of it that has the pens here that are set up like so, we're going to have to attach these to the connector. If you look at it from the back, we'll go over what color wire goes where and what they
