Entrenar la atención significa entrenar la forma de interactuar con la información, para hacerlo, es necesario ser concientes del uso del esfuerzo y la sensación negativa, aunque pasajera, que en ocaciones genera. La atención puede perderse por distracciones, el cambio de la atención de un lugar a otro es un hábito mental que puede entrenarse gracias a la meditación. Con la llegada constante de información, tendremos que entender además cómo manejarla; existen dos enfoques complementarios: el uso riguroso de la memoria de trabajo, o la asociación dispersa de múltiples elementos. Cualquiera de estos modos de emplear la atención puede inducir flujo, el flujo puede llevar a un estado de disfrute que sin embargo, es necesario saber detener cuando sea necesario, pues la vida es más rica que una sola actividad, por más apasionante que sea.
