NOTES FROM OPENING INTRO
Welcome to this epic impro using Pittsburgh Modular's Taiga
I play each of the Taiga's 3 Oscillators Independently via CV tracks from QuNexus
Here I go from track 3 of QuNexus sequencer feature to pitch of Osc 3
Love the sound of the wavefolding of the Oscs on Taiga & LFO them a lot!
I now bring up Osc 1 using the mixer and then patch QuNexus Track 1 to it
The QuNexus has 4 CV outs, I set CV1/2 to Pitch & Gate, and CV3./4 to pitch
Taiga's 4th knob on the mixer is noise, which has been up since the start
The CDR70 FX pedal provides reverb and here I switch on the delay
You will see me switch tracks on QuNexus using 'shift/track then 1,2 or 3
Switching tracks for this slow beginning is OK, but not easy during fast sections!
OK time to start the live sequencing, here putting in a 7/8 line on Tr1 Osc1
And playing notes in real time on Osc3, soon 3 tracks will be active of course
Now adding the gate from tr1 to envelopes for both filter and vca
The effect of the gate will become obvious when I start to close filter & VCA
Finally Track 2 of QuNexus to Osc 2 so the Taiga becomes a 3 voice synth!
I change parameters on the CDR70 and less elegantly switch between FX later
Now adding a sequence to Track 2 Osc 2 and build the piece
Once the gated envelopes kick in the piece moves away from this 'Glass-like' start
The gated envelopes move the piece towards Berlin School in many sections
Of course all 3 oscs go through the envelopes, so have to be strategic
Forgot to mention the wavefolding for Osc 2&3 are being modulated subtly
The QuNexus sequencer for me is all about updating the lines constantly
I vary the length, speed, direction of the sequences throughout the piece btw
