Cyril Höschl vystudoval Fakultu všeobecného lékařství UK v
Praze, pracoval jako psychiatr ve Výzkumném ústavu psychiatrickém. V letech 1992-1998 byl předsedou Vědecké rady Ministerstva zdravotnictví ČR. V letech 2007-2008 byl prezidentem Evropské psychiatrické asociace (EPA) a 2008-2009 prezidentem Federace evropských lékařských akademií. V současné době je ředitelem PCP, Centra neuropsychiatrických studií a předsedou České lékařské akademie. Je autorem knih Neuroendokrinologie v psychiatrii, Psychiatrie pro praktické lékaře, Psychiatrie pro vyšší zdravotní školy. Pan Höschl přednáší na univerzitách v Kanadě a v USA, pedagogicky působí v Rakousku a v Dánsku. Jeho hlavní oblastí zájmu je biologická psychiatrie. Vychoval generace studentů a desítky mladých vědců v oboru. Za svou činnost získal v r. 2008 ocenění „Česká hlava".

Psychiatrist and writer

Cyril Höschl graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine, Charles University in Prague, and worked as a psychiatrist in the Psychiatric Research Institute. In 1992-1998, he was chairman of the Scientific Board of the Czech Ministry of Health. He was president of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) in 2007-2008 and president of the Federation of European Academies of Medicine in 2008-2009. Currently he is director of PCP, the Centre of Neuropsychiatric Studies, and chairman of the Czech Medical Academy. He wrote Neuroendocrinology in Psychiatry, Psychiatry for General Practitioners, and Psychiatry for Medical Colleges. Mr. Höschl lectures at universities in Canada and the USA and teaches in Austria and Denmark. His main area of interest is biological psychiatry. He has educated generations of students and dozens of young scientists in the field. For his work he received the "Czech Head Award" in 2008.
