When we talk about power in climbing there is often a misunderstanding between strength training 💪, power training 🏋️ and just being able to catch a small hold 🤏. Many climbers will end up training all these attributes at the same time and not fully understand how to maximise their power at the right time for them.

Firstly, power is derived from maximal strength, this will dictate your power ceiling ☝️. To hit the power ceiling you can work on velocity training which is completed using much lower training loads and faster movements 🏃. Ordering your maximum strength training prior to your velocity training is a great way to get the best of both.
