English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) would like to invite everyone to join our webinar entitled “Implementing the CEFR-aligned Curriculum: Issues, Challenges and Way Forward.” We will deliberate deeper into these related issues and challenges, experienced by teachers and students in the classroom and ponder on the best way forward to ensure efficient teaching and effective learning is achieved as aspired with the introduction of the aligned curriculum.

In this webinar, two experts from the English Language Standards and Quality Council (ELSQC), an expert from the Curriculum Development Division, Ministry of Education and another expert from the Inspectorate of Schools, State of Selangor, Ministry of Education will deliberate on the implementation of the CEFR-aligned curriculum, its issues, challenges and way forward. The distinguished speakers are as follows:

1. Professor Dr. Hazita Azman, is a professor of applied linguistics and literacy studies at the Centre for Research in Language and Linguistics, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is also the Dean of the Faculty and is currently sits as Chair of the English Language Standards and Quality Council, Ministry of Education or ELSQC.

2. Professor Dr. Ainol Madziah binti Zubairi, is a professor of Language Education at the Department of Language and Literacy, Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She assisted IIUM to recently establish the Measurement, Evaluation and Testing Centre (i-MET) that provides consultancy, training and research collaboration in Educational Assessment. Currently, she is also a member of the English Language Standards and Quality Council, Ministry of Education or ELSQC.

3. Cik Eileen Jessie Ah Guan started her career as an English Language teacher in a rural secondary school for 12 years. She then moved on to a supervisory role in the district education office, overseeing the implementation of the English curriculum and co-academic programmes in schools. She then joined the Curriculum Development Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia and she currently heads the English Language Unit.

4. Puan Azidah binti Abd. Aziz is the senior school inspector at the Inspectorate of Schools, Ministry of Education. She has taught English in secondary schools and was also an English Language lecturer in Perak Matriculation College. She then joined English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) as teacher educator and trainer where she conducted training to in-service teachers in various CPD courses ranging from preschool to tertiary level. She now heads the Policy and Planning Unit in the Inspectorate of Schools, State of Selangor, Ministry of Education.
