VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] Introduction
[1:37] The yarn and DOS plan
Presoak in plain tap water for at least 30 min
[4:57] Extreme Blue Acid Dye
[5:43] Cool Vat (the tonal layer)
8 cups plain tap water
3 containers for the 3 colors - 200 g of yarn in each dyebath
Palest - 12.5 mL 1% stock solution extreme blue
Medium - 25 mL
Deepest - 50 mL
Add the yarn before adding any acid to help get more even color coverage
Add 2 T white vinegar to each container
Let sit for ~48 hours or until color has absorbed
[13:44] Leave No Dye Behind (1)
~12.5 mL of the 1% stock solution. Dip dyed with KnitPicks Hawthorne
8 cups tap water 2 T white vinegar
[14:18] Finishing the Cool Vat & Planning Speckles
[17:53] The Speckle Colors
Dharma acid dyes
Plum Dandy, Deep Purple, Intense Iris, Sapphire Blue, Sea Spray
Mix with 1 tsp citric acid powder
[18:41] Low Immersion Speckles
Using leftover dyebath from the cool vat
Wait 5 min before flipping and dyeing the other side
I did a bit of a gradient with the colors
[26:19] Countertop Speckles
Steam for 30 minutes
[29:36] Washing the yarn
[33:33] The finished dry yarn
