Celebrating GSC awardees supporting safe and sustainable seaweed production in Africa and South East Asia

In the last 3 years, the Global Seaweed Coalition (GSC), with the support of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, has granted 32 projects among 27 countries through calls for proposals. A key outcome of the GSC is to support safe and sustainable production initiatives, particularly in developing economies. In this webinar, we will thus introduce recently awarded projects that have supported this outcome in Africa and South East Asia:

Callum Mackenzie, co-founder and managing director at Yunus Thailand, will introduce the seaweed social business he has set to empower smallholder farmers, especially women.
Amada P. Blanco, co-founder & COO at Coast 4C Limited in the Philippines, will share his experience in establishing a typhoon-resistant platform to cultivate seaweed.
Manon Museux, offshore operations coordinator at Nosy Boraha seaweed in Madagascar, will introduce the management of a seaweed farm production through drone and spatial monitoring.
Paula Sacheus, MSc scholar at the University of Luderitz in Namibia, will guide us through the study she has run to measure the impact of the kelp forest on marine biodiversity and soon on mitigating ocean acidification.
