Ritesh Lakhi informs in this video about the various facets of Operation Blue Star, the code named operation of Indian security forces to flush out militants out of Darbar Sahib Complex popularly known as the Golden Temple Complex in 1984. The Operation Blue star was sub divided into three different operations code named further as Operation Metal, Operation Shop and Operation Wood Rose which had clearly defined objectives in terms of army objectives to flush out and neutralize ultras in various Gurudwaras of the Indian state of Punjab. The most important of these operations was Operation Metal which concentrated on flushing and fighting ultras and Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale along with his supporters who had held Akal Takht for considerable number of months ahead of the operation. Ritesh Lakhi explores the reasons why infantry action was necessitated but failed to deliver the required results leading to the requisitioning of artillery and other guns to be deployed for flushing out ultras holed up inside the Akal Takht building.
