1950 GMC 3100 Light Truck

Description of the Model.
There is no part of this model that you could criticise in any of its details. Solidly made, coupled with the incredible detail, this is considered the best model around for that collector who appreciates it.

The Exterior
Just about all the exterior is die-cast metal. This accounts for the weight. Solid, but still you need to use care, because it still has smaller plastic parts over the model. Paint work is impressive, with no bubbling or drip marks.


It has two opening doors that open wide to give that look into the cab. Also, the engine hood opens, though you can only open one side at any time. The only problem now is the bonnet does not stay open, and you need to prop it. The chrome parts of the model do not present an excess and are exactly the amount one would expect from the real Model A. The wheels, which include the spare tire, are amazing and show how Ford was the premier vehicle maker at the time. Also, the rear tray door folds down to show the wooden floor.

The Interior
When you open any of the doors, they open wide, and it reveals the interior. These were very basic vehicles. Made to be repaired by anyone with basic mechanic skills. No expensive material here. Just the normal interior that Ford used on all its trucks. On this model, all the details are well shown, with the gear shift and brakes, as well as the foot pedals there for all to see. The console is again very basic, with the instruments being the same as on all General Motors of this period.

The Engine
This engine displayed on the model is a good representation of the actual engine. GMC, at this stage, and still had not pursued the V8 path. Could the manufacturer have made this engine better than others in the same scale?
The Other Parts
First the tray. Again, this would simply be wood. This, as well as a bunch of these trucks, would have had wood used on many parts of the truck. Turn the model over, and you will see the detail is as good as the rest of the truck.
This includes being the most detailed within its scale. Great attention has been designed to ensure it is as accurate as possible.

The Conclusion
This is one of my favourite models. With its attention to detail, there is little to fault. Looking at the engine, while it ensured that the basic parts of the engine can be seen when it is displayed. A little more engine detail would make this a top model. But this aside, It’s good, and I recommend this to any collector. It displays beautifully, and I give this a 4.75/5.00.
