Ingredients for Oats Upma

Oats -1cup
Oil -2tbsp
Mustard Seeds -1/4tsp
Urad Dal -1/4tsp opt
Cashew nuts - 5 opt
Green chilli -3
Curry leaves
Ginger -1/4tsp
Onion -1/2
Salt -
Turmeric Powder -2pinch
Vegetables -
Water -1/2 cup or accordingly
Lemon Juice -1/4tsp

Ingredients for oothappam

Dosa Batter
Tomato -
Onion -
Green Chilli -
Salt -
Oil
Curryleaves or coriander leaves

Method

Dry Roast 1 cup of oats in a kadai. Keep aside in a plate. Add oil in the kadai. Splutter few mustard and urid daal. Add onions, green chilly, ginger and curry leaves. Saute it. Add cashewnuts.Add your favorite vegetables (Carrots,beans) .Saute that. Add salt and turmeric powder.Saute in medium heat. Add asafetida (optional).Add some grated coconut (optional). Add 1/2 glass of water. Let the water boil well. Check salt. Add the roasted oats. Saute. If you need to add more water for the oats to be cooked, just sprinkle water. If you like add lemon juice in the end after you turn of heat. Lemon juice is optional. Serve it hot.

Oothappam

Marinate the finely chopped onion,green chilly,curry leaves and tomatoes with salt.you can roast any vegetables and add it on the top of oothappam.
Take a tawa . allow the tawa to be hot on high flame. Add a ladle of dosa batter on the tawa. We need a thick dosa , so don’t spread it too much. Add the marinated vegetables. Reduce the flame to Low.Sprinkle some oil/ghee on the dosa. Cook on the other side too. Serve hot
