糧食危機堪稱當下全球公民面臨的挑戰之一,林教授多年來研究大豆基因,為各地農民培植能夠適應惡劣環境的大豆品種,以新技術提升糧食產量及質素。林教授領導的國際合作研究團隊,最近更完成全球首個野生大豆的參考基因組,為全球的大豆基因研究提供重要基礎。有關研究成果日前於國際著名學術期刊《自然·通訊》發表。詳情:bit.ly/2HVhkEY

Our 'Soybean Expert' Prof. Lam Hon-ming prepared just such a gift for his wife. Prof. Lam gave the third lecture in ‘The Pursuit of Wisdom’ Public Lecture Series on the topic of 'Soybean Research: A Journey from Laboratory to Field' on 1 April and shared his research which has taken him to landscapes and agriculture all over the world.

Hunger is one of the challenges facing people globally nowadays. Prof. Lam is a pioneer in improving the genetic make-up of soybean to help alleviate the looming problems in world food supply and security. He believes that scientists are responsible for developing new technologies to increase crop yield and quality, and to achieve the aim of sustainable agriculture. An international collaborative research team led by Prof. Lam completed the world’s first reference-grade wild soybean genome which provides an important tool for soybean genetic research.
