Chinese Takeaway style Salt and Pepper Chips are probably one of my favourite foods in the world so they have to be included in a Fakeaway Friday recipe. Literally nothing Chinese about them (like a lot of Chinese takeaway food actually…) but a staple in the UK and of course Ireland where they make up a major constituent of the revered spice Bag. Something I’m yet to try!
Worth noting, you could make your chips fresh but frying frozen chips, although less “gourmet” is definitely more akin to the chips I’ve experienced from local takeaways.
Also, I’ve omitted ginger from this recipe as I don’t really like to taste ginger in salt and pepper mix. You can always add 1 tsp of Sand Ginger to the spice mix if you like but I don’t think it’s necessary.

1 tsp Chinese Five Spice
1/2 tsp White Pepper
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp chilli flakes
1 tsp minced garlic
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
1 small white onion
