Best Chicharron in Medellin, Colombia | La Gloria de Gloria | Where to Eat

Want to know where the locals in Medellin are going for chicharron? They’re likely at La Gloria de Gloria! A quick warning that there’s always a line up at this popular local spot, but when people regularly wait for over an hour to try a spot that specializes in chicharron, you know it’s worth the wait.

Even Anthony Bourdain couldn’t find this local spot when filming No Reservations, as locals sent him to Brasarepa instead of the delicious paradise of chicharron of La Gloria de Gloria, likely because they knew it would make it impossible to get a table after the gringos found out about it, LOL!

They have giant platters here, so come hungry. Their chicharron has super crispy skin and soft and tender meat. There is also more meat on this chicharron than any I’ve had in Colombia, and believe me when I say I’ve had a lot of it.

The star of this restaurant is the Almuerzo Completo (you’ll see a picture of it on the wall), which is a giant platter that comes with an enormous chicharron, chorizo, fries, rice and a fried egg together with a plate of morcilla (Colombian blood sausage) and a red bean-based soup.

La Gloria de Gloria only takes cash, expect free shots of Aguardiente (Colombian fire water) during your meal, and I recommend wearing your stretchy pants.
