Be the Rain! Neil Young’s Greendale - 2008

Excuse me as I "break the forth wall" with this one. Neil Young's Greendale is a very special production for me personally because it brought me into the Undermain fold.

Originally produced as the final show of the 2007-2008 Season, and then performed that summer in New York as part of The Ice Factory Festival at the Ohio Theatre, Greendale was back at Undermain Theatre to open the 2008-2009 25th Anniversary Season. This Rock Opera was performed with a live band along with an ensemble cast–many of whom would become Undermain Company Members, and was a huge hit with audiences and critics.

Bruce DuBose adapted Neil Young's original album for the stage and Katherine Owens directed. The cast was Jonathan Brooks, Bruce DuBose, Marjorie Hayes, Shannon Kearns-Simmons, Newton Pittman, Ashley Randall, Richard Rollin, Ian Sinclair and Stefanie Tovar.

The band consisted of: Alan Emert (Drums), Paul Semrad (Bass) and Kenny Withrow (Lead Guitar/Musical Director).

It was designed by Robert Winn (Scenery), Rhonda Gorman and Giva Taylor (Costumes) and Steve Woods (Lighting).
