One sparrow died in the making of this Latin lyric poem

Описание к видео One sparrow died in the making of this Latin lyric poem

I compose and sing a musical arrangement of Catullus carmen 3, a mournful poem in honour of a dead sparrow. The rhythm of the song reflects the hendecasyllabic pattern of the verse, while the melody and chords bring out the introspective melancholy of the subject matter.

It is in a very odd time signature of 9/4 or 18/8, but in practice it's more like a repeating pattern of five bars in the order 2/4, 2/4, 3/8, 3/8, 2/4. The pattern was particularly useful because the tail end of it (the 3/8, 3/8, 2/4) tended to sync up well with the second half of the verse after the mid-line caesura, while giving the first and second halves of the verse a nice contrast.
