Handspring pole move: Three tips to help you get your handspring!

In this video, I'm going to share three tips that I use to help my pole dance students get their handspring on the pole. It may well take you some time and consistent practice to get your handspring confidently. But all the effort is SO worth it!

Here are my three handspring tips:

1: START WITH SOLID FOUNDATIONS

Make sure you are strong in moves like your butterfly, extended butterfly, inverted D, flower and ayesha before you start training your handspring on the pole. The stronger you are in all of those pole moves, particularly your ayesha, the more confident you will be in your handspring.

2: PREP EXERCISES TO GET YOU READY FOR YOUR HANDSPRING

There are lots of prep exercises you can use to get yourself ready for your handspring. Using simple prep exercises like the one shown in this video will get you used to the handspring movement, and building control throughout it.

3: TURNING YOUR HIPS AT THE TOP OF YOUR HANDSPRING

At the point where you have your hips at their highest point, you can then turn your hips towards the pole and sit your hips back to hold your ayesha position on the pole.
