(Slipping AT545 & Exclusive Deadrun!) Nefyn Coaches Optare Solo: YN53 YHL

A little unique route, with an equally unique vehicle to match!

Back in February, I was invited by my good friend Llywelyn ( ‪@llywelyngriffiths5082‬ ) to come try his local bus operator, Nefyn Coaches. Unfortunately, due to running late earlier in the day, I'd missed the only viable return journey on the vehicle I'd came to do, but luckily, Llywelyn and our driver Nick had other plans, and told me to wait for them anyway - And so, I joined them for the last 8A of the day, followed by a deadrun back to their depot in Nefyn.

Our motor, is this classic 2003 Optare Solo - New to East Lothian Council for various non public duties, Nefyn Coaches is only it's second ever owner. They've had it since 2015 or so, and it's been in semi retirement ever since, carrying very little passengers around extremely rural routes within Gwynedd - Overall, it's had a very simple life, and thus, it still sounds quite decent, even 20 years later - Although, as you'll hear, the somewhat strong Alison 545 scream is starting to go on it nowadays, and is starting to suffer with the classic AT545 slip older examples face.

Anyway, enjoy a thrash and AT545 scream filled run, though rural North Wales.
