In Dynamic Analysis of a structure, the time factor comes into play which means that the acceleration, velocity, and displacement in the equation of motion are functions of time. As a result, the equation of motion transforms into a Second Order Ordinary differential equation for which only a numerical solution is possible. There are several methods to solve this problem and two such important and widely used approaches are Explicit and Implicit Methods. In this video, we will talk about each of these two methods, their differences and when each should be used to perform a successful Dynamic Analysis with no convergence issues.
