Element Formulation in Explicit Dynamics - Lesson 3

Описание к видео Element Formulation in Explicit Dynamics - Lesson 3

Explicit dynamic analysis often handles complex problems that occur in short time with high nonlinearity. So the question naturally arises: what is the best element type to be used for such an analysis? In this video, we discuss the pros and cons of different element types that are available. We begin by discussing various concepts such as linear and nonlinear shape functions, full integration and reduced integration. Following this, we talk about some unwanted behaviors that certain elements may display in certain circumstances, such as hourglass behavior, shear locking and volumetric locking. Finally, we discuss ways to resolve these behaviors in order to obtain accurate solutions.
