Hi guys. Today Maria and I are off again across the Zuari river to Ponda, and we’re going to quite a well known place on the Bethora Road.

I’m sure all of you have heard of the great Sunny. Sunny was closed recently because his sister was getting married. And now he’s reopened so we’re going to say hi to him and taste his lovely fish

Sunny Bar is located in Betora, just south of Ponda. From Betora junction, take the Betora-Nirankal road. Keep going straight past United Spirits and Betora Industrial Estate, till you come to a temple at a T-point. Turn right here. Just half a kilometre down this road is the government high school at Betora, and Sunny is right opposite. Turn left into the ample parking space along the fence

There is seating in the bar area but we would rather sit outside in the family area.

Sunny has a big menu with all the Goan favourites like xacuti and cafreal in fish, chicken and mutton. Happy to see Goan veg items like mushroom chilli and cafreal and veg xacuti on the menu too.

Today we'll have chonak fish thali, veg thali, teesrio sukha and recheado bando (stuffed mackerel)

We were delighted to meet some of our fans at Sunny’s: Sayli, Avay and Aditya from Pune.

Sunny's teesrio sukha is very tasty, nice and spicy, different from the normal sukha we have. They have some special recipe here for their teesrio sukha. We don’t know what it is but we both love teesrio sukha and this is just out of this world

We interrupted our teesrio eating only to see the beautiful rechead bangdo that Sunny brought next. Fantastic, with crispy skin. Absolute heaven. It’s one of the best rechead bangdos I’ve had in my whole life, and I’ve had many. It is not just rechead masala stuffed into the fish. It’s rechead cooked with onions and tomatoes and coriander and all cooked together and then stuffed and it’s just heaven. They are very gifted cooks over here.

So now let’s see what we have in our thalis today. First we’ll see Maria’s veg thali: Tidkeo midkeo bhaji with potato, dal, alsande bhaji, pappadum, batata phodi, chapati, banana, salad, sal kari and rice.

And my chonak thali has beautiful chonak, banana, salad, sal kari, tidkeo midkeo bhaji, some more teesrio, pappadum, a beautiful fish curry and rice.

The fish curry is good but a little salty. Maria's dal was very tasty.

After this we got so busy eating and we enjoyed our lunch so much that we forgot to film everything also. Like our usual sol kari cheers shot at the end

Very reasonably priced food at Sunny’s.

We enjoyed our lunch. The bangdo was very special. We had no idea that just mixing some chopped onion and tomato into the rechead masala before stuffing it into the bangdo would make something so tasty. And the thali was great. Very generous. The fish curry was a little on the salty side for my taste. But can’t complain when they have such great teesrio and wow, what beautiful sweet fresh chonak in that rawa fry

Lovely. No wonder Sunny is so famous in Ponda
