Monster Hunter: Rise - Sunbreak: Hunting "Velkhana"

"Velkhana" is an Elder Dragon first introduced in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. It is a traditional dragon with the slim, upright body structure of Elder Dragons like Kushala Daora. Its scales and shell are crystalline blue. Its head has a tiara-like crown of horns. It summons ice to cover its wings, limbs, and tail. Its thin, lance-like tail is flexible and can jab at enemies.

This dragon controls cold using ore-infused scales and uses this in various ways. It primarily attacks foes by breathing supercooled fluid that flash-freezes on impact, which also creates walls and exploding spikes of ice. It can also create icy armor to protect itself and disperse freezing clouds that snare enemies. These clouds freeze when hit with breath attacks, allowing it to rain ice upon its foes. The creature is highly agile and evasive, maneuvering around enemies while using its spear-like tail to strike from multiple angles. Notably, if its tail is cut off during battle, it creates a prosthetic using ice.

Like many Elder Dragons, it is territorial and will viciously attack intruders. It is also known to freeze smaller creatures and leave their frozen corpses around its domain as a warning to trespassers.
