Ingredients:
2 cups red lentils, rinsed well
2 Medium onion
7-8 cloves garlic
120 Gr tamarind paste
1 Large Potato
2 Cups Tomato purée
1 Tsp turmeric
1 1/2 Tsp red pepper powder
1 Tsp Curry Powder
Salt
Vegetable oil
Water

Instructions:
Wash red lentils with cold water. Drain and set aside.
Mix tamarind in a bowl with some warm water until soft and smooth.
Stir the resulting mixture well in a strainer so that only the core remains.
Pour the red lentils into the pot with water and add the diced potatoes.
cover and cook on medium flame for 20 minutes.
Pour 1/3 cup veg oil into a frying pan and let it heat up.
Add onions and Sauté until soft and golden.
Add grated garlic and Sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
Add salt, red pepper powder, turmeric and curry powder and fry well.
Finally, add the tomato purée and tamarind paste to prepare the mixture.
Add the prepared mixture to the red lentil pot and stir well.
cover and cook on low flame for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, the stew is ready.
Serve with rice or bread.
