Chordplay - Songwriting Secrets (Part Two)

Описание к видео Chordplay - Songwriting Secrets (Part Two)

Here's the second installment of the new Chordplay segment Songwriting Secrets with 'Linear Progressions.
This episode begins with a slight recap of where the first episode ended and pushes a little deeper into understanding common four-chord progressions, along with tapping into a few of the various alterations/mutations we can create related to the I-vi-IV-V progression we targeted near the end of Part One in this series.

This episode moves through these slight alterations to this common progression and includes numerous mentions of famous songs where you can find these ideas in action for reference and inspiration in writing your own music and ideas. This includes classic songs from the 1950s and 1960s, to more recent selections and music that you can refer to, which will help you get a better grip and clearer idea of what we're playing and focusing on in this lesson.

From there, this lesson moves into unlocking linear chord progressions, which are very common in all styles of music but seem to appear in rock and pop music quite often. Once this idea is introduced, you'll begin tackling a few variations and alterations to this popular chord progression concept, which also includes a brief mention/performance of various popular songs that include this material, and this includes famous music from the 1950s to more recent examples, which includes a section from a rockin' Joe Satriani song on his Crystal Planet album.

Depending on the response I get from the videos in this new Chordplay segment, I plan to include more episodes along this type of direction in the coming months (and will continually push these ideas and concepts forward), but I'm also going to return to creating "regular" Chordplay episodes as well, so this will really just be an extra songwriting boost within the Chordplay series.

Give this episode a view, leave some comments and feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
