Mass Effect is Legendary

Описание к видео Mass Effect is Legendary

An in-depth and comprehensive retrospective to look into why, in my humble opinion, the first Mass Effect game is worthy of the title "legendary". There are many elements in both the game and in my life as a whole that lead to this game and this franchise being one of my favourites, and maybe - just maybe - this video will make you see why.

Released on November 16th in the year of our lord 2007, the first Mass Effect game was pretty much an instant hit for developer BioWare. Prior to this, BioWare were notable for their much beloved work in other classic RPG games such as the aforementioned Baldur’s Gate and its sequel, Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, as well as the equally aforementioned first Neverwinter Nights game and the not-as-of-yet-mentioned first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, both of which would also have sequels made by the tangentially aforementioned Fallout: New Vegas developers Obsidian – and trust me, I would at some point love to talk about all of these games and franchises as I think each and every one of them is frankly a gem – but the important thing to take away from all of this is that these developers had credentials in RPG genres, and even in sci-fi games themselves, but Mass Effect was intending to move away from slower or more tactical, stat-driven combat like many of their previous games, and to instead focus on fast-paced shooting inspired by third-person shooter games comparable to something like Gears of War. Mass Effect as a whole was pretty ambitious, with a whole new sci-fi story in a bizarre and exciting galaxy where humans were the newcomers, the underdogs, and also the only ones who could save everything…

Special thanks to everyone who worked on this gem of a game and its sequels, I look forward to working on doing a similar (hopefully more refined) version of this for Mass Effect 2.

And thank you, kind sir and/or madame, for reaching the end of the description. your epic
