ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (ASEAN-AIPA)

Continuing his participation in the 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his counterparts in the ASEAN Member States convene with representatives from the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) on October 9, 2024.

In this meeting, President Marcos Jr. is expected to highlight the importance of advancing infrastructure development, supply chain connectivity, cybersecurity, agriculture and food security, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and climate change.

Furthermore, the President will emphasize the potential role of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) and highlight AIPA’s role in translating regional commitments to concrete actions at the national level.

The AIPA is a regional organization that fosters parliamentary cooperation and dialogue among members of the regional bloc. House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez joins the President as AIPA Head of the Philippine Delegation, accompanied by Representative Glona Labadlabad of the 2nd District of Zamboanga del Norte.
