President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with Member Leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), gather for the 44th ASEAN Summit Plenary Session at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) on October 9, 2024.

During the meeting, President Marcos Jr. is expected to promote the regional digital economy, cybersecurity, and the reskilling and upskilling of the labor force; support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by addressing financing gaps, digitization and capacity-building; and encourage the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and promote sustainable tourism.

In July this year, the Philippines was chosen to host the board of the ‘Loss and Damage’ fund, a crucial step towards providing financial assistance for countries to recover and rebuild from the impacts of global warming.

Furthermore, the Philippines will host the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) and the International Conference on Women, Peace and Security this October 2024.
