Описание к видео The Scottish Maiden - History's Most BRUTAL Execution Method?

Throughout History there have been many different execution devices and methods used to take the life of a condemned person. One of the most famous is the guillotine which would during the French Revolution take the heads of the French King Louis XVI and his wife and Queen Marie Antoinette. It would also execute prominent politicians such as Robespierre, but the guillotine was inspired by machines that had been around for centuries before and one of these was used in Scotland and was known as 'The Maiden.'

The Scottish Maiden emerged during the reign of Mary Queen of Scots and it was used in Edinburgh to take the heads of around 150 people in over a century of use. It was moved around and lent to other Scottish towns for executions too, and it was this that inspired the French guillotine.
