Surprise lunch of Syrian Food, I could not ask for a better (tasting!!) birthday gift - Thank you Rimma, and thank you Bank! Every day hanging out at your house has been a blessing, looking forward to the next one already!

I have never had this exact dish before, but just like any of those smells most dear to one's heart, it DOES immediately bring me back to Arab food I had in East Africa - its the amazing earthy aromas and the buttery hearty flavors!

*Mulukhiyah is an ancient recipe, one that's very popular throughout the Arab world. It is a heavily-spiced dish traditionally cooked with chicken, served with rice and fresh lemon or lime. Considered to be the National food of Egypt, the version that Rimma makes is popular in Syria, and it is similar in many ways, but also very different.

IN THIS VIDEO, Bank and I hang out in the garden and collect a few fiery ingredients for lunch (shoutout to Steven!), after that we join Rimma and Li in the kitchen. We all take turns stirring a few pots and listen as Rimma describes some of her favorite parts of this uniquely Arab food.

Lunchtime is next, of course, and what a lunch it is... :)

A special meal like this takes a long time to prepare, and so I made the video (as best I could!) in some way to reflect the feeling of weekend lunch-time get-togethers with friends and family (because it is THESE things that we are all missing during Covid...
