Upma | Rava Upma
Ingredients
Rava/Semolina - 1 Cup
Green chilli - 1 slit
curry leaves - few
Urad dal/black gram without skin - 1 Teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 1 Teaspoon
Asafoetida/Hing - a pinch
Salt - as per taste
Sugar - a pinch
Water - 2 to 2 & 1/2 Cup
Lemon juice - as per taste
Coriander leaves - as required
Bhujia/Namkeen Sev - as required for garnishing
Ghee/Clarified butter - 1 Tablespoon
Instructions
Dry roast the semolina for 2 to 3 minutes. Then keep it aside.
Heat ghee in a pan.
Add urad dal/black gram, mustard seeds, asafoetida, slit green chilli and curry leaves.
Add semolina and saute on a low flame.
Add salt and sugar. Mix well and saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add 2 to 2 & 1/2 cups water to it. Let it boil.
Add lemon juice, mix well and cook for a minute then switch off the flame. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
Delicious 'Upma | Rava Upma' is ready to be served. Sprinkle bhujia on the top and serve it hot.
Upma | Rava Upma is a lip-smacking breakfast and tiffin option for everyone.
If you are getting late and want to make a dish for tiffin quickly then Upma | Rava Upma is a perfect option for you. This does not require much time to cook. You just need semolina, green chillies, curry leaves along with some spices for tadka. This gets ready within 10 minutes. The good thing is it does not uses onion hence everyone can enjoy it. This has little sweet and tangy taste because of sugar and lemon. Everyone will love this taste. You can serve it in kid’s tiffin or breakfast or in the lunch box. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-
First, dry roast the semolina/rava for 2 to 3 minutes. You can store this roasted semolina for a longer time.
You can add chopped onion if you want.
Sugar gives a nice taste to the upma so, do add it.
For the perfect consistency of the upma, add 2 to 2 & 1/2 cup water.
