Today we will talk about the unique nature of the 1st Allied Airborne Army - General Richard "Windy" Gale's role in that command and Operation Varsity. We will then discuss the differences between the British and American approach to glider pilots and then about the operation itself - focused on the glider units and their missions, flights and subsequent landings.

James is the paratrooper-turned-author of Four Hours of Fury, the untold story of Operation Varsity, the American 17th Airborne Division’s combat jump over the Rhine River in March 1945. Prior to penning the book. He served for over a decade and is a graduate of the US Army’s Airborne, Jumpmaster and Pathfinder schools.
