Getting to the ideal tennis recovery position is the key to getting to difficult balls as we always start with the shortest distance to them. But to reach the ideal recovery position you need to understand the "just in case" concept.

Recovering to the ideal position is the last part of the hitting cycle and just like in the previous examples you will recover best if you always move with the "just in case" idea.

We need to recover quickly just in case opponent hits their best shot into the open court. If that happens then we're positioned the best we can in order to run the least amount of distance to that ball.

And if our opponent doesn't hit that best shot then we'll have a lot of time to position well and calmly execute our strokes which increases the chances of good power and control.
