Out On LinkedIn: Nicole Maines

Nicole Maines, who is an actress and advocate, sat down with LinkedIn News to discuss her career as an out #LGBTQ+ professional.

Nicole Maines has been forging pathways for other LGBTQ+ people from a young age. In addition to playing television’s first transgender superhero, she defended her rights and those of others as a minor at Maine’s Supreme Court in Doe v. Clenchy. The case was pivotal in setting the precedent that transgender people have a right to use facilities that align with their gender identities. Nicole's family also opened up their lives for the book "Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family." She has gone on to play one of the most visible transgender characters on television as Nia Nal/Dreamer on The CW Network's Supergirl.
